Alexandre Castro Caldas

Alexandre Castro Caldas is the current director of the Institute of Health Sciences at the Catholic University of Portugal. Until February 2004, he was a full professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon and the director of the neurology department at Santa Maria Hospital.

He was the chairman of the Portuguese Society of Neurology from 1989 to 1992 and also presided over the International Neuropsychological Society from 2001 to 2002. He has authored over 200 scientific articles and book chapters, as well as several books on the science of the brain.

Alexandre Castro Caldas has been awarded several prizes, and those notable distinctions include the BIAL Award in 2000 and the Distinguished Career Award from the International Neuropsychological Society in 2009.
